A description of Sri Yoga given by my teacher, Darin Para Somma:
"Sri" means the highest respect. Sri Yoga is yoga practiced with an awareness full of loving respect for the power of the gifts that the sacred science of Yoga can bestow. Yoga asana, or revealed poses, were prescribed by the ancient seers to eliminate all physical and mental disease, extending the lifespan and offering ease of comfort to sit still for extended periods in deep meditation.
"Yoga" means union. The practice of yoga asana unites the spirit with the mind-body, which has its root in the nervous system of the body. Yoga asana heals the nervous system and brings all the glands of the endocrine system into a harmonious balance, improves digestive power and circulation facilitating greater healing of bones and musculature, strengthens the heart and lungs, and even heals our minds when we practice with reverent silence.
Sri Yoga an authentic yoga asana practice for comprehensive well-being revealed by a modern saint from India, Amma Sri Karunamayi, who spent 12 years in the forest in intense meditation for the welfare of humanity, and has been travelling internationally for the past 17 years on a mission to help humanity eliminate poverty through education.
